Newerth League Opener Tournament

The NL Opener Tournament starts this Friday, July 23rd! Read on for all the information you need to know.

Format:
- 24 Teams Total
- 6 randomized groups of 4 teams each. Round robin, Best-of-1 series
- Top 2 teams from each group will advance to the round of 16
- Third place from each group will form two groups of three teams. Round robin, Best-of-1 series
- Top 2 teams from each group will advance to the round of 16
- Round of 16 will be played in a Best-of-1 series
- Quarter finals, semi finals and finals will be played in a Best-of-3 series

Additional Information:
All games MUST be played through NL's game system using Tournament Mode.
A NL referee must be present in games taking place from the Round of 16 to the Finals.
Teams must negotiate a time themselves if they cannot make any of their scheduled times below.
In the event of a tie during the group stage, the following steps will be taken to decide a winner:
1. Head-to-head result
2. Higher team KDR of tournament games
3. Higher team ADR of tournament games
4. Decision by a panel of NL staff

Rules:
- Be respectful to your opponents. Unnecessary flaming and comments are not needed.
- Backdooring of towers outside the enemy base is allowed.
- Teams must enter the opposition's base with creep support until the tower and both barracks are down at one of the three entrances.
- Use of known or unknown glitches to gain an advantage will not be tolerated.
- Players are bound to their team for the duration of the tournament. Switching teams forces that player to be ineligible to play in any further games.
- Only 2 of each of the following items are permitted: Kuldra's Sheepstick, Restoration Stone, Stormspirit, Barrier Idol and Puzzlebox.
- Development heroes are not to be used. If a new hero is removed from development status during the course of the tournament, they will continue to be unavailable for play.
- A team can only concede after 20 minutes of play.
- The match ends after a team concedes or the tree or shrine is destroyed.

Servers:
- Teams in a different locale should agree on a neutral server location (eg. a USW team matched with an EU team should play on USE). The goal is to obtain the most equal ping possible for both teams.
- Teams from the same locale will play on the best server in that region available.
- If a team cannot agree on a server. One will be chosen by a referee or league admin.

Miscellaneous:
- All disputes should be taken to a referee. If the conflict cannot be solved, it will be escalated to a league admin.
- Maintain good sportsmanship and professionalism at all times. You will be disqualified for ongoing or severe unsportsmanlike conduct.
